I installed a ventless gas log last year and it is the best thing I have ever done, quick heat, no odor, just hit the remote and sit back.

We replaced a word burning fireplace with unvented gas logs. The logs produce little heat and are more for a cozy appearance than anything. I'm not knowledgeable about your technical questions. I miss everything about my natural wood fireplace except the mess it produced. Wish I had known to ask the questions you have. I payed VERY well for something that is not particularly efficient.
