Mold needs 4 things to grow: water, lack of sunlight, lack of ventilation, food. Eliminate any one and you will have no mold.

Your best options are ventilation and "food." Don't put bushes next to the north side of the house and keep it clean. The metal strip probably helps to keep; it dry.
