Steel or vinyl siding?
I live in the Black Hills and I need to re-side my cottage. I like the look of vinyl. I’ve heard pros and cons about both steel and vinyl. Is steel really that easy to dent? It just doesn’t look as ‘clean’ as vinyl.
Also what 3 color combos do you like? My cottage has shutters.

Thanks for your help. There are several paints that are self-priming, which would take out some of the labor. Does this change the analysis?

I got a price range of 8k to lay new vinyl on old siding. The contractor said that won’t be a problem, but I believe it is. Shouldn’t it be better to take off the old siding and install a barrier? I think the guy just wants to do a quick install.
