Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008

We have 18 yr old Cedar siding in our house. In order to increase its life, we are planning to cover it with vinyl siding. SOme of our friends suggest that we do painting rather than vinyl siding. What does Yahoo Answers think?

how do I get rid of cedar siding bleeding stains?

Sunday, January 20th, 2008
Gary L asked:

I have cedar siding on my home. just today I noticed some spots are brown. I believe it’s the cedar leaking through. My siding is painted. question is how do I stop it permanently? I have been spraying it with a hose and it all comes off, but then a new coat replaces it. will it stop eventually?

Help with Natural Log, E?

Saturday, January 19th, 2008
kmtiburona asked:

I know I should know this, but been working on it all night and can’t seem to get it.

5xe^x=0
(5 times x times e to the x power equals 0)

I can’t take the natural log of both sides, and if I divide by 5, it doesn’t seem to get me anywhere either.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Katherine

Solving exponential equations by taking the natural log of both sides? Please help?

Tuesday, January 15th, 2008
Bob asked:

The population of mice increases to the formula
M(t) = 6e ^ 1.18t
,t the time in months

a) How many mice were there at the begining?
b) How many months will it be until there are 90 mice?

Answer for a):
M(0) = 6e ^0.18 x0
= 6e
and if you take the natural log of that it equals 6.
So at the begining there were 6 mice

How do you do b) ??
Please show the steps
Thanks
the answer for b) in the answers page is about 15…
how is that?

Teresa

What’s less expensive - vinyl siding or stucco?

Tuesday, January 8th, 2008
Deb G asked:

We are looking to replace the vinyl siding because ours looks terrible and is falling off. We are trying to decide between new siding and stucco. If we do the siding, it will probably be high quality - not the cheapo stuff. But we’re not sure which is a better value. We were quoted $14,000 to do the house with siding. This is a manufactured home that we are trying to make nicer.
Quickly, though… would it be better to put the garage on before redoing the outside, or after?
Thanks!

Vinyl Siding: How much does it improve the resale value of a home?

Monday, January 7th, 2008
jkennedy442 asked:

My fiancee and I just moved in together at her home. The plan is to fix it up and probably move within the next 1-3 years. She thinks that Vinyl siding is the way to go, but I think since the chances are we will be selling the house that I should just paint it myself. We got an estimate for 17k for the vinyl siding and she seems to think that we will get all or most of that back in the resale value of the home. Does anyone have a clue if this is true?

Solve: log[5] 6 = log[5] (2x + 1) + log[5] 3 Please Help with this Waldo question:?

Sunday, January 6th, 2008
Paula F asked:

step 1) combine the logs on the right side into one log expression….what you will want to do is use one of the properties of logs listed in the section (I think section 9.7 or 9.8)

step 2) once you have ONLY one log on each side…..erase the log part with the base. What you want here is just the stuff that you are taking the log of. So in essence, you will erase the “log” part, and you will also erase the base that you have inside the [ ] part.

step 3) solve the resulting equation……this will mean that you will have to rely on your techniques from unit 2 (on linear equations) and unit 8 (on quadratic equations) to solve the problem.
