Does anyone know where to find a light block for D5 vinyl siding?

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008
energizer bunny asked:

We are having trouble finding this item is there a web-site to go on? It is a block that goes between the light fixture and the vinyl siding.

How do you get sticky residue off vinyl siding?

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008
J’s Mom asked:

The people that lived in our home before us used those little double sided sticky squares to hang hooks for their christmas lights in the shape of a tree on our vinyl siding. How do you get the sticky residue off without haming the siding?

How do I remove Behr Paint from vinyl siding?

Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008
quiltamomma asked:

My lovely adorable children (cough cough) decided to get a paint roller I used last week and wrapped in plastic, take the plastic off and use the roller to paint our white vinyl siding. Did I mention the paint on the roller is orange?!! I have no idea how to remove it - any ideas? It’s just regular interior Behr paint. I think the old owners painted the siding as when you rub against it, white stuff gets on your clothes. Am I totally screwed?!!

Thanks for any help you can give.
OK I just tried a couple of things - soap and water didn’t do anything. I don’t think it will peel off, it’s too thin. It’s one time I wish they’d done it nice and thick lol! I did try a magic eraser and some came off, but not in the nooks and crannies. I will try the goo gone when I go to the store. Thanks for the ideas so far!!
Oh and I will get some nail polish remover (acetone - thanks first poster!) and try that too - it has worked miracles for me in the past!

Megan

How do I install vinyl windows with existing aluminum siding?

Sunday, July 20th, 2008
Mandy asked:

I have bought all new vinyl windows for my home which has aluminum siding. I read that I need a special tool called a J-tool to remove the siding correctly, but I cannot find the tool anywhere. I have called all of the hardware stores in my area (Eugene, Or) and none of them carry such a tool. I’ve been unable to find the tool online; I have only been able to find tools for vinyl siding and have been told these tools wont work on the aluminum siding.

What causes vinyl siding to not stay locked? Could it be a damaged piece somewhere, a crooked wall? Also how can i solve this problem.

How do I attach house numbers to vinyl siding?

Wednesday, July 9th, 2008
Waterlily asked:

Brand new house has vinyl siding and I need to put my house numbers on it but I dont know how. The numbers I bought are metal and have little nails to nail in, but I dont think I can nail it in the siding. Can I glue it somehow without messing up the vinyl? If so what glue do I use? I just dont want to mess up my new house.
THanks!!! My husband and I got some screws today and will try it. Several people mentioned that, so I cant pick a best answer! Ill let the people vote, Thanks again!

How can I hang windchimes from my vinyl siding?

Monday, July 7th, 2008
SusieQ asked:

I have vinyl siding on my back patio and want to hang some windchimes. However, I obviously don’t want to put a hole in my siding. Does anyone know of anything I can use to put them up? I thought about those 3-M stick on things, but the hangers don’t come out far enough to hang wind chimes, as they need to be at least 6 inches from the wall. Any ideas?

How do I protect my vinyl siding from my grill?

Saturday, July 5th, 2008
Joe F asked:

My balcony isn’t very big, so I can only give my vinyl siding about 2 feet from the back of my grill. Is there a heat shield or something I can buy to make sure I don’t melt the vinyl? Would I attach it to the wall or over the back of the grill?
