I live in central NJ in the shore area, looking at a house that has asbestos siding. It was built in 1959 it’s a 1,080 sq. ft. ranch, 2 br, 1 bath, basic house. Can anyone give me a ballpark figure of how much it might cost to remove all the asbestos siding?

I’m going to redo some siding on a house I’m considering purchasing. The siding on it is weird, it’s almost like a composite wood siding, but I don’t think it’s hardiplank. It’s actually becoming sorta soggy (when it rains) and easily falls apart at the touch. It’s nailed in, and coming apart at some sports. I am looking to make the correct choice in replacing it.

Does Hardiplank deteriorate like that?

where my deck was removed the siding is higher than the rest of the house and there are two pieces of flat siding attached to the foundation. These 2 pieces are dirty and damaged and the trim for the bottom of the siding and the siding itself is further out from the wall as there is insulation put on before the siding. Can I add more siding? I heard that when putting up siding you start at the bottom and work up and therefore this would be impossible. Do I have another solution? My siding is white vinal.

My 1920’s house has white vinyl siding. Wood trim, railings, columns, etc. have been painted white. There are some areas where brushing in tight spots has ended up with paint on the siding over the years. Of course, the old white paint is not invisible on the siding. What might I do to remove the dry paint without damaging the vinyl?
