“hanging” things from vinyl siding?

Ferne asked:

We are vinyl sided…I want to hang some flowers but would have to screw hangers/screws through the vinyl right? Isn’t there a better way without damage to the siding? There’s no wood showing any longer.

I believe you would have to screw through the siding into the wood behind it. Drill a small pilot hole before putting screws in so you don’t take a chance of splitting the vinyl. You can check with your local hardware store to see if they offer some kind of other option but I have never seen a hanger made especially for vinyl siding. Good luck.

there is no other way. DO NOT screw anything through your siding. if you want to hang a plant from your soffit(eave)that is ok, but your siding needs to stay loose, as it is now.

drill a hole first and then screw the hangers in. it wont be a problem to go through the vinal. you might want to put a little caulking (you can get colored) around the hanger or screw to seal the hole. its not going to hurt anything just make sure your pilot hole goes into the old wood siding so that you dont split the wood underneath.
