Of course salesman for each are telling me different stories…….my question is……..is it true that hardiplank is a much better insulation than vinyl siding, therefore save money on electrical bills? True (or) False? Thanks

If the house is properly insulated, I don’t think either will make a noticeable difference in your heating bill

      Hi-
The vinyl siding I am familiar with has a thin layer of insulation beneath it. So it would be slightly more insulating than hardiplank. Modern homes are built with a lot of insulation in them, no matter what type of siding is on the outside, so I don’t think you need to consider this. Hardiplank is very hard and fire resistant, so I prefer it. I think you need to consider which you prefer the looks of. You will be looking at it for a long time.

I have put both up…habitat for humanity . And I like the hardiboard, but I was told you will have to repaint it. So ask about that aspect of it.
