		<description>I have put both up...habitat for humanity . And I like the hardiboard, but I was told you will have to repaint it. So ask about that aspect of it.</description>

The vinyl siding I am familiar with has a thin layer of insulation beneath it.   So it would be slightly more insulating than hardiplank.  Modern homes are built with a lot of insulation in them, no matter what type of siding is on the outside, so I don't think you need to consider this.   Hardiplank is very hard and fire resistant, so I prefer it.  I think you need to consider which you prefer the looks of.  You will be looking at it for a long time.</description>
