How do I measure my house for vinyl siding?

We have a 1908 1/12 story home with the original wood siding on it. I am tired of painting and would like to put vinyl siding on it this spring but not sure how to measure so that I know how much it will take and the cost.

Draw a sketch of the “footprint” and then take measurements. That will give you the perimeter. Then you will need a measurement of the height. the product of the two will give you the sq. footage.

Most home improvement stores and some retail stores that specialize in exterior improvements will come and measure your house for free or less than 50 dollars. They hope that their estimates will later give them business. So I would use their estimates and buy the supplies on your own.
