Is vinyl siding damaged if the house is tented?

G. S. asked:

If you install vinyl siding on your house and several years later find some wood destroying pest, like powder post beetles, and need to have the house “tented” will that damage the siding?

    1. John M Says:

not likely to damage the siding.

    2. Matt D Says:

You should ask an exterminator company.

My guess is the answer is no, There should be no effects from the tent installation nor the treatment that is used.

    3. John D M B Says:

The tenting will not damage the vinyl siding; but the chemicals used in bug sprays, mists. etc do damage some types of plastics. As was stated before, ask the pest control contractor and get the name of the chemicals.

Contact the siding manufacturer - see what they say and recommend.

Do some yahoo and/or a google searches on the chemical and siding..

Check with the vinyl people, they should have the best answer to your question.
