It will look fine to anyone that doesn't know the difference. Part of the advantage of vinyl is that you do not have to paint. If it were me I would spend the little extra to complete the job. When your all through, go over the soffit and fascia and paint it the same color as the siding or, a comparable color, I did, came out real nice and I save a few bucks. I've installed thousands of squares of the stuff. No matter how good the installation, it still looks like vinyl. Go with Hardi-Plank.
