Painting Cedar Siding?

sefnificent asked:

I am in the process of purchasing a house that has blue cedar siding…my question is, if I wanted that paint it a lighter color like white or tan, is it possible to do that??? …..How would I do it???…..and would it be cheaper just to get some vinyl siding?

Yes you can paint it, I’d say it’s got a solid color stain though. You should really contact a local painter to see whats on it, if it’s a stain stick with that. If it’s in good shape and just needs a new color to your taste than 2 coats of finish stain or paint will do the trick, if it’s in tough shape , alot of sanding than prime it, have your primer tinted to your finish color and 1 coat of finish, Good luck Les the painter

Les said it best, and it would be about 3 or mores times as expensive to replace it.
