Should they power wash the house before installing vinyl siding?

This house is brick with painted exterior wood trim, gabels, headers, soffits, etc. I plan to install vinyl siding to reduce maintenance costs. I hate the thought of them installing new siding over the dirty exterior wood. Hence, my question.

Why worry about it. Once the siding is up dirt will work it’s way in behind the siding anyway, & collect there.

You will be adding to the labour costs of the installation unneccessarily.

The exterior wood is not necessary to pressure wash before you put on vinyl siding it matter if it matter if the exterior wood is pointless.
      The exterior wood is pointless.

The wood so would not recommend it afterwards anyways.

don’t bother with washing it. if there are bare wood surfaces and you have left over paint that you want to get rid of, slap it on. you really have to worry more about condensation than how clean it is under the siding. and even that is not a big concern. i have never found a clean house under a siding repair or re do. i’ve been doing siding since the mid 80’s and even if you have a bare spot or two, it will dry out in quick order, once it’s sided. good luck, and enjoy the new siding!

I would only wash it, if it excessive. Otherwise a little dirt will not affect anything. Mold however is a different issue. Make sure, nothing is rotting or starting too.

Also make sure all areas to be covered are dry prior to application to avoid trapping in moisture which could initiate mold if it does not dry quickly enough
