Vinyl siding cleaners?

Mushie asked:

Does anyone have a home “concoction” for cleaning Vinyl siding on my house. A new home was built on the North side and now I have a Green tint powder like stuff on the siding which needs more than just a water wash.

I use a powerwasher and dishsoap

Here is the formula that I have used in the past, its cheap and works really good (you probably have most of these ingredients in your house already)
2/3 cup TSP or TSP substitute
      1/3 cup detergent
      1 cup. bleach
      3qt. warm water
The TSP substitute works the same as TSP except it has no phosphates, phone around to your local paint and building supply stores first as it’s not available in all outlets, it’s environmentally friendly. You can use any type of detergent you want, dish, laundry; the soap acts as a carrier for the other ingredients.
Use a garden sprayer, dampen down the area you want to clean with your garden hose first, spray on the cleaner and let it stand for about 15 to 20 minutes, do not apply in direct sunlight. Take a broom and scrub to really dirty areas and then hose off. Make sure you wear goggles and gloves and old clothes.

To clean my siding I use Oxyclean. I mix up a batch with 3-4 scoops into 1 gallon of warm water in a pump sprayer. I spray it on and let it soak in for a few minutes (don’t let it dry). Then I hit it with the power washer. Oxyclean won’t hurt your plants/grass.

If I am just doing a small area I use a vinyl brush on a pole to scrub it clean and then rinse with the hose.
