What is the easiest and the best paint sprayer for restaining our cedar siding?

It’s just too humid in Maine to hand paint the house this summer. My husband and I have seen many commercials for paint sprayers but we would love to hear from others who have bought and used different brands before we go out and spend the money.

Rent an airless sprayer and do it up like a professional. Airless sprayers put the paint or stain where you want it and not all over the neighborhood. And I would consider using colored minwax or a similar product that helps seal out moisture (although I think cedar is rather resistant to rot). You can rent them at Home Depot rental center. And the job will go blindingly fast. I painted a ceiling (at least 2000 sq ft in an afternoon using an airless).

Most cheap paint sprayers (even the expensive ones) are a waste of money..without a compressor they just spit the paint (use a vibrating solenoid). They clog and drip, etc. (more trouble than they or worth). Just check and see if the stain is OK to use with the airless. They are not cheap to rent (but if you can get to most of your house without too much ladder work) you should be able to finish in 1-2 days, depending on the size of your house.
If you have a compressor you can buy a sprayer that works somewhat like an airless the can that hold the paint sits upside down. They use these on cars and I believe they don’t spray as much air but then you have to fill that little can ever few minutes. An airless has a tube that will go in a 1, 2, or 5 gallon can of paint. Turn it on and just paint…..
      Good luck
PS be sure you have lacquer thinner or a good solvent in the unlikely event the head clogs..and ask alot of question or get a manual so you can get the right paint pattern, ect. (talk to the people at the rental center)

When I stain and water seal a deck or patio I buy those cheap pressure bottle sprayers and roll out any thick areas with a flat surface roller and pad. Then I touch up with a brush or cotton towel. I say cheap sprayers because I am not paying my crew to clean bottles, I actually save money to just throw them away. You might want to clean it out. Remember to power wash your deck first and cover any thing under the deck. Good Luck and have fun
Behr has the best deck stain and a nice variety of colors, I don’t believe MinWax makes a deck stain. A lacquer or poly finish (especially in the northeast) is not what I would suggest, just deck stain and BBQ
