Where does the water go if it enters the j-channel joining vinyl siding to a window?

I’ve included a picture of what I’m referring to http://sites.google.com/site/windowsiding2/

What prevents it from getting behind the vinyl siding, particularly if the siding at the bottom corners of the window are not tight against the window?
Here’s the right link http://sites.google.com/site/windowsiding/
